About
Hi, I’m Zlatko.
Zyankov.eu is where I publish small, practical tools that run in your browser. I’m Zlatko Yankov, a frontend engineer from Sofia, Bulgaria, and I build and maintain every project on this site myself.
Who builds these tools
For about ten years I have built and maintained web applications. Much of that time went into a large business application: supporting and improving its original AngularJS version, building its Angular successor, and migrating it step by step, release after release, across many Angular versions.
That kind of work is mostly invisible to the people who use it. Zyankov.eu is the opposite: tools that do one job you can see, built with the same care for correctness, accessibility and maintenance.
What you will find here
Letterwell finds words from a set of letters in English or Bulgarian and shows Scrabble, Words With Friends and Boggle scores.
BuildCalc estimates materials for common home-improvement jobs: concrete, gravel, paint, tile, mulch and floor area, with guides that explain the assumptions behind each estimate.
New tools and articles are added over time. Each tool works without an account and is designed to work on phones, tablets and desktops.
How the tools are made
Calculations and word searches run in your browser, so what you type is not sent to a server. Each calculator shows its formula, an example and its limitations, and the calculation code is covered by automated tests.
Letterwell uses openly licensed (MIT) word lists; see the English and Bulgarian licence notices. Lists can differ from official game dictionaries, so check the rules of the game you are playing.
When someone reports an error, I fix it and note the change. Reports about accessibility problems are especially welcome.
English and Bulgarian
I am Bulgarian, and the site is written mainly in English so that the tools are useful to as many people as possible. Where a Bulgarian version adds real value, such as Letterwell’s Bulgarian dictionary, it has its own page.
Advertising
The site shows ads from Google AdSense, which keeps the tools free. Advertising, consent and analytics are described in the privacy policy.
